1973 Aston Martin V8 Renovation
This very original Tudor Green Aston Martin V8 came to us in February 2021 for some remedial work. At nearly 50 year old it is common to see corrosion of the steel chassis, so following a detailed inspection the decision was made to replace the sills and R/H inner wing. The aluminium body will need to be cut open to allow access the sills, but as this is also showing signs of corrosion the paintwork will be stripped back for further investigation.
Once the repairs of the chassis and body have been completed, a mechanical rebuild will take place. This involves the stove enamelling of wishbones, kingpins, the De-Deon tube and differential unit cradle, the replacement of all, bushes, bearings and ball joints and a full overhaul of the braking system. One of our in-house developed handling kits will be fitted, along with a rear telescopic damper conversion and an overhauled steering rack. Following a transmission inspection, the gearbox will just have the seals replaced, but the hypoid unit will need a re-build. We will also fit a new fully balanced clutch and flywheel, as well as a reconditioned prop shaft and drive shafts.
Once removed from the car, the engine is completely stripped and all components are thoroughly inspected. The cylinder block and head are vapour blasted, whilst other items are re-plated, re-chromed or stove enamelled to achieve the required finish. The engine is then built to the customer’s unique specification.
Having an in-house dynamometer allows us to fully run-in, set-up and power test each engine to maximise performance, reliability and efficiency.
