1978 Aston Martin V8 Renovation
This Jubilee Silver Aston Martin V8 came to us from France for a renovation. After a detailed inspection, the decision was made to carry out repair work to the corroded steel chassis and aluminium body. Once these repairs had taken place, the whole car was re-painted in its original colour. The mechanical restoration work included a full rebuild of the engine, gearbox and hypoid unit.
Having been chemically cleaned and pressure washed, the engine is completely stripped, and all components are thoroughly inspected. The cylinder block and head are vapour blasted, whilst other items are re-plated, re-chromed or stove enamelled to achieve the required finish. The engine is then built to the customer’s unique specification.
Having an in-house dynamometer allows us to fully run-in, set-up and power test each engine to maximise performance, reliability and efficiency.
Now the repairs to the chassis and body have been completed, a mechanical rebuild will take place. This involves the stove enamelling of wishbones, kingpins, the De-Deon tube and differential unit cradle, the replacement of all bushes, bearings and ball joints and a full overhaul of the braking system. One of our in-house developed handling kits will be fitted, along with a rear telescopic damper conversion and an overhauled steering rack. The fully rebuilt engine, gearbox and hypoid unit are also re-fitted.
